Allie N.

Dear Athena,
I have a problem and I desperately need your help. I’m afraid that my wonderful performance qualities are not being showcased enough with the recent part I’ve been given to perform. I have been so great to Peter Quince that I just cannot believe he didn’t give me a bigger role. I mean I’m obviously the best actor he has ever directed. If I continue to play such small roles I’m afraid that no one will discover my great talents. I need help getting a different part or leading another play.
Before the last few months I was playing and performing the most notorious lead roles of the greatest plays known to man. Then Peter Quince held auditions for his latest play and I knew that I could bring the most entertainment so I auditioned. I was expecting the lead role as always but was surprisingly shocked to find that that wouldn’t be the case. I discovered my role would be the character Pyramus. There were many actors complaining about the roles they had received. In my opinion Peter should have fired them because I could be a one-man play.
It puzzles me as to why Peter cannot see my amazing talent. I have shown him that my ability to act is obviously much greater than any other actor because I can play every part better than anyone else. What else could I do to prove myself to Peter?

Sincerely,
The best actor ever seen

  1. He sees you talent, but you don't understand that he gave you a lead role!

  2. Dear the best actor ever seen,
In order to prove yourself to Peter, you must start your own play. Since you are so "amazing" make it a one man play like you said you are capable of doing. If your play is the most entertaining Quince might realize that you are better than he thinks. Then next play that Peter does, he may ask you to be his one man play. If he doesn't then you will have to find another play directer. Some directer just don't see certain actor's talent. You might just have to direct your own plays from now on.
